NET POWER SHOTS: Expertise around Wi-Fi

In cooperation with Cisco Systems, we have put together an interesting video series for you on the subject of Wi-Fi. The individual videos will be published continuously as follows from 12 July:

NET POWER SHOT #1
Technology/Changes Wi-Fi 5 vs. Wi-Fi 6
Beat Stettler, CEO at onway

Technologies are constantly evolving, but often, despite new names and a lot of marketing, they are not quantum leaps, but rather evolutionary advances. With Wi-Fi 6, however, some almost revolutionary procedures have been introduced for wireless technologies, which make it possible to operate far more than just best-effort applications. In this video, we go into the essential innovations of Wi-Fi 6 technology and show by means of examples that the marketing hype is quite justified.

NET POWER SHOT #2
Wi-Fi Site Survey versus Wi-Fi Modeling
Armin Walt, Systems Engineer at onway

In this video we show how a professional placement of access points is carried out. The Ekahau AI Pro™ software and the planned access points are used. We show which information about the requirements must be recorded as a priority. Finally, we show the differences in coverage in the 6 GHz range compared to existing 5 GHz installations.

NET POWER SHOT #3
IoT as a business case for your existing Wireless
Anna Summerauer, Systems Engineer at Cisco

In this video we explain how you can easily and effectively deploy IoT solutions in your business environment. IoT services are part of our Cisco Spaces platform, allowing them to leverage their existing Cisco network infrastructure. Thanks to the BLE radio built into our catalyst access points, the access point can act as a gateway between IoT devices and the Cisco Spaces platform. We also offer integrations with various sensor manufacturers that enable the implementation of diverse use cases.

NET POWER SHOT #4
Wi-Fi 6E in the enterprise environment
Fabian Beck, Systems Engineer (CCIE) at onway

In this video, Fabian Beck shares his experiences regarding the introduction of Wi-Fi 6E at onway. He will discuss the differences between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E and explain the resulting challenges and necessary adjustments. He will report on the possibilities of introducing Wi-Fi 6E in the enterprise environment and explain what needs special attention. The know-how regarding the changeover in one’s own company will be passed on by means of information on the hardware and software infrastructure used, the configuration of RF/SSIDs and the experiences in the infrastructure and client area. Use cases in the enterprise sector with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) devices and guest access round off the presentation.

NET POWER SHOT #5
Outlook Wi-Fi 7 / Wi-Fi 8
Basile Bluntschli, Head of Engineering at onway

The Wi-Fi numbering scheme has changed to a user-friendly number. Since then, the numbers seem to explode and new ones are added all the time. Where are we now? What’s the deal with all these numbers? Let’s discuss what news to expect soon and how we can work towards a highly available access network solution. Real-time and redundancy are hitherto missing possibilities in WLAN, these are in sight and enable us to create completely new use cases – today and in the future!
