The on2852 is a rugged rooftop router built for high-performance connectivity in public transport and other mobile applications. It combines two independent 4G/5G modems, Wi-Fi 7, dual-band GPS/GNSS, integrated antenna systems and positioning sensors in a single compact unit, removing the need for separate rooftop antennas.
Each of the two cellular modems operates through its own 4×4 MIMO antenna array and supports 4G and 5G worldwide. The vehicle can therefore be connected via two mobile network operators at once – if one network drops out, the connection stays up. The integrated router platform processes data directly on the device and delivers a routing capacity of more than 2.5 Gbps. Inside the vehicle, a single 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port carries the data, and the same connection supplies the on2852 with power via PoE+. One cable is all the installation requires.
The dual-band GPS/GNSS system provides high-precision position data and supports dead reckoning as well as RTK correction – accurate to within a few centimetres where correction data is available. Position information therefore remains reliable in tunnels and urban canyons. Two 3-axis magnetic sensors determine heading, while internal motion and temperature sensors support positioning and system monitoring.
Designed for rooftop mounting on both conductive and non-conductive surfaces, the flame-retardant, halogen-free housing provides IK10 impact protection and IP69K ingress protection when correctly installed. Its low profile keeps the unit within the vehicle envelope. The on2852 meets road vehicle standards UN ECE-R10 and ECE-R118 with E-Mark approval, and rail standards EN 50155, EN 61373-1, EN 50121-3-2 and EN 45545-2.
