The on2500 is a compact 5G/LTE communication unit built for use in vehicles. It connects the vehicle to the internet via 5G Sub-6 with LTE Cat 20 fallback and provides passengers with Wi-Fi 6 bandwidth for up to 512 simultaneous connections. Five Gigabit Ethernet ports link passenger information systems, cameras, payment terminals and other onboard devices to the network.

Internal and external data connections remain logically separated. The on2500 transmits payload data encrypted over an IPsec VPN with certificates, while VLAN and firewall protect operation within the vehicle network. A permanent link to the central management system allows configuration, software updates and status monitoring to be handled remotely — across large fleets as easily as on a single vehicle.

Thanks to zero-touch deployment, new units go into service straight from the factory: once installed, they connect to the management system on their own and retrieve their configuration. No manual setup is required, and boot times are kept short.

For automotive use, the on2500 carries E-Mark/ECE-R118 type approval. The anodised aluminium housing operates from –40 to +75 °C, and the power supply accepts 9 to 50 VDC with reverse polarity and overvoltage protection. The device runs software CarlOS developed in-house by onway on a Linux base.
