With the on2852, onway is expanding its portfolio for public transport and other mobile applications. Its particularly compact design combines several components that previously had to be installed separately.

Until now, many vehicles were equipped with a router, while each 5G modem required its own 4x4 MIMO antenna on the roof. The on2852 combines the router and antenna in a single roof-mounted unit: the integrated, low-profile antenna unit includes the router as well as antennas for two 5G connections, Wi-Fi and GPS/GNSS, replacing several separate components. Instead of, for example, eleven individual cables running from the roof into the vehicle, a single Ethernet cable with PoE (Power over Ethernet) is sufficient to provide the on2852 with both data connectivity and power.

This also reduces the number of mounting points required on the vehicle roof. Thanks to its low profile, the on2852 can also be easily installed on emergency vehicles without significantly altering the vehicle’s silhouette. When installed correctly, the flame-retardant, halogen-free enclosure provides IK10 protection against impact and IP69K protection against the ingress of dust and water, including during high-pressure and steam-jet cleaning.

Two independent 4G/5G modems provide robust multi-carrier connectivity: if one network fails or the connection is weak, the second connection is immediately available. The integrated router platform processes data with a routing capacity of more than 2.5 Gbit/s. Positioning is provided by a dual-band GPS/GNSS system with RTK correction, enabling highly precise positioning even under demanding conditions.

The on2852 is suitable for mobile applications in public transport, for first responders, as well as for self-service terminals and other end devices.
