Modern TRAMLINK Trams for Gotha
Stadler is delivering four new TRAMLINK trams to the city of Gotha, equipped with onway infrastructure for passenger Wi-Fi. With this investment, Thüringer Waldbahn und Strassenbahn Gotha GmbH is opting for vehicles that meet current technical standards not only in terms of propulsion and comfort, but also in their digital equipment.
The initial order comprises four vehicles, with an option for up to six additional units. Managing Director K.-H. Koch emphasizes the importance of the procurement: “With the TRAMLINK, we are investing in the future of local public transport in the district of Gotha. The new vehicles not only offer greater comfort and accessibility, but also a significant reduction in maintenance costs. This represents a major step forward for our passengers and our city.”
Iñigo Parra, CEO of Stadler’s Spain Division, also highlights the technological advancement in the passenger environment. In addition to modern TFT displays providing real-time information, the onboard network infrastructure plays a central role. The integrated onway passenger Wi-Fi enables stable and secure internet access throughout the journey. Thanks to automated connectivity and a fail-safe network architecture, passengers can use their devices without additional effort and make more efficient use of their travel time.
Delivery of the vehicles is scheduled for mid-2027. Following completion of the approval process, they are expected to enter service by summer 2028 at the latest. With the new TRAMLINK generation, Gotha is investing in future-ready mobility: modern vehicle technology, high operational efficiency, and a digital infrastructure that meets the growing connectivity demands of public transport.
